About Us

Sheilagh, our principal trainer, has successfully qualified two of her own assistance dogs for both physical and neurodivergent tasks: CJ, a black labrador, with Canine Generated Independence in 2017, and more recently, Norman, a pug, with the Scottish Assistance Dog Association.
With a longstanding career as a registered general nurse, Sheilagh has been involved in dog training since 1992. She was assessed and accepted for membership of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) in 1998 (lapsed). She was one of the pioneering clicker trainers in the UK to run classes, establishing and managing a large and successful dog training club for 10 years, where she saw up to 100 dogs weekly for puppy, adult, and behavioural sessions.
After a break to raise her boys, Sheilagh resumed with Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen classes and began volunteering as a trainer for Canine Generated Independence. She later became their Scottish Assessor, a role she continues to fulfil.
In 2018, Sheilagh, alongside her husband John and sons Paul and Mark, founded Clicktrain K9 Centre in a spacious commercial unit Bonnybridge in Central Scotland. This centre includes a daycare licensed for 32 dogs daily, a grooming parlour, and a training facility.
Continuing her education and professional accreditation, Sheilagh qualified in 2018 with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers after completing their two-day Career as a Dog Trainer Course and four-day Practical Dog Trainer Course.
She is also certified as:
-
Wag It Games Instructor

-

So you can be confident that Sheilagh’s expertise is recognized and validated by multiple professionals who hold her to the highest standards of training.

From 2019 Sheilagh has been running an Assistance Dog Program that has so far seen 9 dogs qualify and go on to help their partners at home and out and about on public access.
